Battle of the Makeup sponges!!

Battle of the Makeup sponges!!

Hey loves, happy Monday!!!

If you follow me on snap you would have seen my videos on my collection of beauty blenders and sponges. or shall I say addiction!!

I may have a slight addiction to buying all different kinds of makeup sponges, I just can’t seem to help myself LOL, I have been buying lots from primark as they’re just so affordable and let’s be honest beauty blenders etc are so expensive and need replacing after a few months so I’d rather pay £2 from primark. I love that so many brands are bringing out all these different sponges in different shapes, we have ones for contouring, under eyes, foundation, blemishes the list is endless with what you can do with one of these sponges. And it’s definitely a staple in my makeup collection, I rarely will use a brush for foundation and concealer now.

Real Techniques

I purchased some of the new RT sponges, I think beauty blender and real techniques started off the makeup sponge hype, the orange one is the original RT sponge. I love the shape of it and actually prefer it to my BB, I like the flat edge for applying foundation and blending everything.

The diamond shape is the new bold metal sponge, it’s so blogger right?! It’s a bit gimmicky but I’ve read a lot of reviews and it seems to be getting some good feedback, I’m yet to use mine as I’m using up my other ones first but I like the fact it has all different shapes for different things, you can use each faucet for different areas of the face. This is the more pricier sponge out the RT collection at £12 so it’s still affordable but more expensive than the original orange sponge.

The purple and pink sponge is the other new ones, the pink sculpting sponge has flat sides as it’s supposed to be used more for contouring and highlighting the face and good for blending. The purple ones look like a miniature versions of the original orange sponge and these are supposed to be good for the under eye, so wiping away fall out, blending or even applying concealer under the eyes.

I know superdrug and Boots often have offers on Real techniques so keep an eye out as you might be able to get them cheaper.

Beauty blender

This brand is probably what started it all, everyone was going mad over the beauty blender, these are loved by everyone including makeup artists and celebrities.  When these first came out I was like really a sponge, what’s so amazing about a sponge, but then I bought one and I knew what the fuss was about, it applies makeup flawlessly and blends everything so nicely, it soon become a must have in my collection. I didn’t know where beauty blender as a brand would go after they first launched the pink blender, I just thought it would be a brand that would disappear but they have actually bought out so many quirky products since, we have lots of different colours now in the sponges and in different sizes, cleaners, BB stands, mixing palettes to name a few, they have also collaborated with everyone in the makeup industry.

They are definitely more pricey but I think as they were the original people are just happy to keep buying and replacing them, me personally even though I love beauty blender I am happy to just buy the cheaper alternatives as they do the same job.

I’ve got each colour the white and black is supposed to be for different things, I think I read the black is a pro sponge and the White is more for creams and stuff I’m not sure how true that is though.

I’ve also got the cleaner which is really good for deep cleaning the sponges. I highly recommend cleaning them after every use or every few days and although I love the sponges and use them for everything they freak me out how unhygienic they are, I’ve heard so many horror stories so that’s my only issue with these sponges. I always make sure I clean mine regularly!!

Primark beauty

Have you been in primark recently, the beauty section is insane, I’m loving all the new bits and bobs and beauty essentials they’re bringing out. Since I took these pictures for this post I actually bought some more that I spotted that I hadn’t seen before so I couldn’t resist picking them up, I did say I had a problem ha!!

They’re always bringing out new shapes and designs but these ones are the original ones I picked up months ago. I actually bought the set of pink sponges that they had out first but they were so hard I hated them, I was a little skeptical to try these new ones in case they were the same but these ones I picked up were from the pro range and looked so much better, I had a little squeeze of them in the box and noticed they felt really soft and bouncy exactly like the RT and BB sponges and for £2 I thought it was worth a try. The blue one is an exact dupe for the orange RT sponge so you must get it ladies, total bargain!

The orange one I love as it has a rounded side and a flat side so this is great for blending and applying all sorts of products. I use all my sponges wet and these primark ones expand a little more than the RT and BB but that’s the only difference I’ve noticed, they are soft and bouncy and apply product the exact same way as the higher end sponges.

The yellow min ones are an exact dupe for the mini BB sponges that are meant to be used for concealer, blemishes and under the eye/hard to reach places, I find them a little too small if I’m honest but I was intrigued to try them and I think they were only about £2.50

Really recommend checking out the primark beauty section, its got so many useful bits and bobs and I’m really impressed so far with the quality and price.

I’m going to be doing a primark beauty haul post soon so keep an eye out for that.

Tk maxx

This is just a random sponge I came across in tk maxx, but I thought I’d mention it. Tk maxx have so many beauty sponges in there at the moment and they’re so cheap. This one is a large body sponge it’s thicker and I actually got it more for applying creams, moisturiser and fake tan etc. I don’t have anything like this and I know beauty blender came out with a black body sponge that looks identical to this So I thought this was a bargain for £3.99.

I have also got a few other random sponges that I got from Sephora when I was in America, but the primark ones are just as good as those as well.

Like I said I have bought a few more sponges since I took all these pictures, I have got issues I know ha ha but you get the idea of this post, I definitely think it’s worth looking around and not just buying the most expensive and well known brands.

I hope this has been helpful, let me know what sponges you love!!

Thanks for reading xo

Girl you need to get yourself to primark and try some ha ha ha they are just as good and so much cheaper, when I’m in America I pick up some beauty blenders but just can’t justify the price sometimes. I know even though I have far to many as it is I stil buy more whoops xo

I still can’t believe how many you have!! I’ve tried a few of the cheaper alternatives but I always go back to the original Beauty Blender. I must say that the BB cleansing lotion is amazing too – makes such a difference! What ever you do don’t try the New Look one – awful!

I know I know ha ha I’ve got issues lol so many people have said this about the BB, I mean I liked it but wasn’t blown away with it, I think these other sponges I have are just as good if I’m honest, but I agree on the cleanser it’s the best at cleaning them! Xo

This is literally the blog post that I have needed! My pink Beauty Blender has gone super gross and then when I tried to clean it the other week it completely tore apart, it broke just like my heart so a trip to Primark is desperately needed now! x

I bought the pink ones from Primark when they first came out, and absolutely hated them as well. Dampening them made absolutely no difference, they just stayed hard. Going to give their newer range a try now!
